You just can t have any air leaks in the sand point which you can t have anyway or the pump would suck air as well. There s no need to go to the expense of drilling a well. Then your inlet to the pump would be much bigger.

Drop a weighted line or stick a narrow pole down the pipe hole to check the location of the water table. If the well point becomes clogged with sand and silt which can happen with a shallow well where the water is being drawn from a sandy and rocky layer in the earth. Sand point wells are similar to dug wells in depth with a steel pipe driven around 20 deep and a 1 1 4 to 2 diameter. I kind of thought with sand points that you use the 2 sand point pipe as the water sucker upper.

A sand point is a perforated pipe that drives through the earth and provides a channel for water to be pumped to the surface. The best you can do is install a check valve as close to the top of the sand point as possible. Installation of a sand point well first requires the driving of this piece down to the level of the water table. The last thing that can cause your issue is a cracked suction pipe coming from the well point to the pump.
